Top 5 | Books to Get You Out of a Reading Slump

I’m in a pretty awful reading slump right now, and its getting me on my nerves … I mean: I want to read! Reading is my ultimate way to relax and it feels weird to only have read two books this month (one of which was a reread). I had a minor reading slump last year, so fortunately I know a few tricks to get out of one … Continue reading “Top 5 | Books to Get You Out of a Reading Slump”

My Favourite Books of 2016

The time has come for my 2016 favourites. Erm … yeah, I wasn’t going to do a favourites blog post at first, because I felt that I should have done that towards the end of 2015. However, I kept seeing favourites video’s on YouTube throughout the whole of January, so I finally decided to do a blog post myself. Here’s to the love of books! Continue reading “My Favourite Books of 2016”

Winter TBR

Yay, I’m back! It has been four months – FOUR MONTHS – since my last post. I know, it’s insane. I’m going to write a short blog post about the reason for my absence (’cause it’s bookish related!), but for now I just really want to get back into blogging. Let’s get started! Continue reading “Winter TBR”

August Book Haul

Last month I told you I didn’t really need any new books. And I don’t, actually. There are quite a few books on my shelves that are waiting to be read, but this month I came across so many beautiful books in several (different!) second-hand shops, that I couldn’t resist picking a few up. Want to see which books will be engrossing my TBR pile? Continue reading “August Book Haul”

Top 5 | Penguin English Library Books

You may have noticed that I’m quite a big fan of the Penguin English Library books. They’re beautiful, bright coloured editions of English classics and as I intend to read every book that’s on the list (around 105 titles) I read at least one of them every month. Want to see which ones I’d like to read very soon? Continue reading “Top 5 | Penguin English Library Books”

Top 5 | The Time & Place Book Tag

A while ago Jen Campbell started a new tag with this video in which she talked about ten books that are linked with a certain place and time in her life. I thought it was a lovely tag and when I saw Jean’s version of it, I thought: I have to do this as well! Instead of ten I have picked five books, just because I don’t have that many books linked to a specific time and/or place. Let’s see, shall we? Continue reading “Top 5 | The Time & Place Book Tag”

PELC #6 Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

It’s been a while since I finished this novel, but I figured I would still write a review because I absolutely adored it. I’ve read five Austen novels so far, including this one, the others being Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, PersuasionNorthanger Abbey is Austen’s fifth novel and was published posthumously in 1818. Want to see why I think you should read it? Continue reading “PELC #6 Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen”

Read #7 July 2015

I’ve read quite a few books this past month: nine to be precise! Three of them were volumes of the Chronicles of Narnia, so that probably explains the high number of books. Today I’m going to show you what other books I read and what I thought of them. Continue reading “Read #7 July 2015”

The Wicked Wit of Jane Austen

Last month I read The Wicked Wit of Jane Austen by Dominique Enright: quite a plain sort of book and part of the ‘Wicked Wit’ series, but I loved it. Next to quotes from Austen’s novels, Enright inserted quotes from Austen’s personal letters to family members and friends. She’s. So. Funny!  Continue reading “The Wicked Wit of Jane Austen”
